2012 IBC/IRC Administrative Grace Period Announcement Date: 11/12/2020 4:22 PM This email is sent to all professionals, contractors, agents, and draftspersons within the Building Permitting System. The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works Building Division announces that an administrative grace period will be applied to the enforcement of the 2012 IBC and IRC. The grace period will extend from November 13, 2020 until August 31, 2021, by which date the County of Hawai...‘i is required to adopt the 2018 IBC and IRC codes. Projects may continue to be designed to the 2006 IBC as amended in our code or the design professional may choose to submit a design based on the State amended 2012 IBC/IRC. However, State of Hawaii projects still need to comply with the 2018 IBC. The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding. See more
